Stewart Dawson Trade-In Program

At Stewart Dawson, we are pleased to offer a convenient Trade-In Program that allows you to exchange your eligible vintage STEWART DAWSON timepiece towards the purchase of a new Stewart Dawson watch that captures your interest. This policy outlines the complete process and terms associated with our Trade-In Program.

1. Eligibility of Vintage Timepieces

This Trade-In Program is specifically for vintage STEWART DAWSON timepieces. While we appreciate all inquiries, the final determination of a timepiece's eligibility for trade-in rests with our expert evaluation team. Generally, a "vintage" timepiece in this context refers to watches that are typically older than 20 years or are specific historical models within the Stewart Dawson lineage. If you are unsure whether your timepiece qualifies, please proceed with the initial steps outlined below, and our team will assess its eligibility.

2. Initial Inquiry and Picture Submission

To initiate the trade-in process, please contact our dedicated Trade-In team via email at tradein@stewartdawson.com. In your initial email, please provide the following information about your vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece:

Model Name (if known): Please provide the specific model name or number of your watch, if available.
Approximate Age (if known): An estimate of the watch's age will assist in our initial assessment.
Brief Description of Condition: Please provide a concise overview of the watch's current condition, including any known issues or notable features.
Following your initial inquiry, we will request detailed photographs of your vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece for a thorough evaluation. To ensure an accurate assessment, please provide clear, high-resolution images adhering to the following guidelines:

Front View: A clear, well-lit shot of the entire dial, hands, and crystal.
Back View: A clear shot of the case back, including any engravings or markings.
Side Views (All Sides): Images showing the condition of the case sides, crown, and pushers (if applicable).
Bracelet/Strap: Clear images of the entire bracelet or strap, including the clasp and any signs of wear or damage.
Close-Ups of Damage/Wear: Detailed close-up shots of any scratches, dents, discoloration, or other imperfections. Please highlight these areas clearly in your description as well.
Movement (If Visible): If the movement is visible through a display case back, please include a clear image.
Ensure that the lighting in your photographs is adequate and that the images are in focus to allow for a precise evaluation of your timepiece's condition.

3. Price Quotation and Agreement

Once our expert evaluation team has reviewed the submitted photographs, we will carefully assess the authenticity, condition, functionality (based on your description), and market value of your vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece. Based on this assessment, we will provide you with a preliminary trade-in price quotation via email.

This quotation is subject to our final inspection of the physical timepiece. Your agreement to this price should be explicitly confirmed by replying to our email, stating your acceptance of the offered trade-in value. This email confirmation serves as our initial agreement.

4. Shipping Your Timepiece to Stewart Dawson

Upon your agreement to the offered price, we will provide you with the designated shipping address for sending your vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece to our evaluation center. Please adhere to the following shipping guidelines:

Secure Packaging: Package your timepiece securely in a sturdy box with adequate padding to prevent any damage during transit. We recommend using a reputable packaging service if you are unsure how to pack it safely.
Insured Shipping: We strongly recommend using a reputable courier service that offers tracking and comprehensive insurance coverage for the full agreed-upon trade-in value of your timepiece. All shipping costs, including insurance, are the sole responsibility of the client.
Shipping Documentation: Please retain copies of all shipping documentation, including tracking numbers and insurance receipts.
Stewart Dawson will not be held liable for any damage or loss that occurs during the shipment of your timepiece to us. The responsibility for ensuring the safe transit of the watch lies entirely with the client.

5. Physical Inspection and Final Valuation

Upon receiving your vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece, our expert team will conduct a thorough physical inspection to verify its condition against the submitted photographs and the details provided in your description. This inspection will include, but may not be limited to, confirming its authenticity, assessing its current functionality, and evaluating the extent of any wear, damage, or missing components.

6. Handling Discrepancies

If, upon physical inspection, the condition of the received timepiece differs significantly from the submitted photographs and your description, we reserve the right to revise the trade-in value initially offered. In such cases, we will communicate the revised offer to you via email, clearly outlining the reasons for the adjustment.

You will then have the following options:

Accept the Revised Offer: If you agree to the revised trade-in value, please confirm your acceptance via email. We will then proceed with applying this value towards your new Stewart Dawson timepiece purchase.
Reject the Revised Offer and Request Return: If you do not agree to the revised trade-in value, you may request to have your original vintage Stewart Dawson timepiece returned to you. The cost of return shipping in this instance will be borne by the client, and we will arrange for the secure return of your timepiece upon receipt of payment for the return shipping.

7. Applying the Trade-In Value to a New Purchase

Once the condition of your traded-in timepiece has been verified and the trade-in value has been finalized (either the initial offer or a revised offer that you have accepted), this value will be applied as a discount towards the purchase of a new STEWART DAWSON TIMEPIECE that you have expressed interest in from our current collection.

To proceed with your new purchase, please inform our Trade-In team of the specific new Stewart Dawson model you wish to acquire. We will then provide you with a final invoice for the new timepiece, reflecting the agreed-upon trade-in discount. As per your request, you will receive an official invoice for this payment.

8. Finality of Trade-In Transactions

All trade-in transactions are final. Once the trade-in value has been applied to the purchase of a new Stewart Dawson timepiece, the vintage timepiece sent to us will not be returned to the customer under any circumstances, except in the scenario outlined in Section 6 where a revised offer is rejected.

We encourage you to carefully consider your decision before proceeding with the trade-in process.
